A little bit of beauty in the desert

After taking the pups out to potty, I looked up over our fence and saw a beautiful owl staring back at me. I grabbed the camera and ran back outside to see that it had turned it's back on me. Damn owl!

I had to capture this creature to remind myself that there can still be beauty in this sandy wasteland. Ahhh hemm, I mean Wonderland! (Too much Monster's Inc.)

So below is the photo of my owl, named Herb. Why I chose that name, I have no idea but he can't say anything about it. I've circled him so you can better see. I also spotted a Hummingbird a few day's ago. Truly amazing.

Aside from these gorgeous creatures I have a spider the size of a calculator (a big one) living on my front porch and a cricket, or frog, or lizard-thing or something, that makes the loudest freakin' noise from 9pm - 6am right by my bedroom door (outside door). Thank you, you annoying reptile you.

I'm back....finally

I don't know if I have any more readers out there since I've been away for almost 2 months. Wow! But I'm back! :-)

Here's the deal...

We moved from Alabama to California. Then we moved again from our family's house in California to our house in California. And in between all that, I fell down the stairs while holding J. Bean and injured my ankle pretty bad.

Bean is fine. She probably had no idea what happened and thought she was on a fun ride with Mommy. She did get a little freaked out when I started screaming in agony like some crazy person. It sent all my in-laws running. I think I fell down about 12 steps before coming to a stop on top of my ankle.

The Orthopedic Surgeon said that it was just a severe sprain and to baby it for 2 months. What?! Did I mention I have a six and a one year old? I'm not sure how much baby'ing I can do but I'll give it a shot. So anyway, luckily I have not re-injured it and the ankle is healing nicely. It's still much bigger then my other one but I hope the swelling will go away soon.

I closed down my site during the move and then again after I injured my ankle. We just re-opened yesterday so hopefully everything will go smoothly with that. Right now I'm just trying to get back into the swing of things and adapt to my new homeland with far less friends and far less grass. We live in the desert.

Wish me luck!
