Two Post in One...Yes, I'm Lazy

I know I've been lazy with the personal posts lately but the fam has been sick (except for "D"), the migraines have been kicking my butt, and life overall has been crazy.

"D" graduated from 1st grade with all 'A' Honor Roll and he received the Presidential Award for Physical Education. No one in his school has ever won that award, he and one other student made it this year. Congrats dude! He goes to a private school so they have a graduation ceremony for every class level. Complete with awards, graduation papers and a slide show. These last 2 years at WCA have been amazing and we're truly going to miss it.

"D" and his 1st Grade Teacher, Mrs. Ellis

For those of you who aren't aware, we currently live in Sweet Home Alabama. The hubs is a Pilot in the US Army and he is finishing up flight school here. Love the new grub I've discovered, not crazy about the crappy mall that's 40 minutes away.

Anywho, we'll be leaving this lovely town sometime in late July - mid August (parents and in-laws, don't quote me on that) and we need to lighten our load a bit. No, no, we're not dumping one of the kids or the annoying Yorkie who barks when the wind blows. We're getting rid of our beloved baby, a 2006 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab. So this post is sort of a farewell to a lot of body work. LOL! My hubs pretty much customized the whole thing and I know he hates to see it go. I do too.

Good-bye ole' girl. I can't remember Sean's name for "her" but I think "IRS" sounds about right. Get it? Oh, and if you know anyone who may want it (for the right price) email me at sarah@thepitterpatterboutique.com. She's hanging around for now but it's up on eBay for any takers. Not sure if the hubs put shipping on there but he use to haul cars and has a lot of contacts in the "car hauling" biz.

Ciao Bella!

Tackle it Tuesday - WAHM Style

So...maybe this is a shameless plug, but, I've been working really hard lately and this is more like a Tackle it Forever then a Tackle it Tuesday so I wanted to share.

In the last couple of weeks I've added 5 new products to my site. In the last 2 days I've added the final 2 (for now). Now of course, there's no before picture (just imagine a blank space) but I wanted to share the New products and show off my...umm...website input skills? LOL! Thanks for humoring me.

Click on the product title for more details and to check out all the color/fabric options on my site. The Teething Bling is 100% lead free, baby-safe and dishwasher safe. A popular product among Mom's with teething little one's, including celebrities.

Those adorable and totally cozy blankets above are a must have! I got one, so what are you waiting for? J. Bean has the Pink Camo one that's photograped above but these awesome blankets even come in a MEGA size, perfect for adults and measuring approx. 58'' x 58''. Also available in small and large.

The kid in me...

Carnival rides were a lot more fun when you were a kid and didn't know the dangers they could bring. Who's idea was this?

Dont Worry, Be Happy

If only it were that easy. Us Moms and especially WAHM's have it tough. You have a schedule for your personal life (or what little personal life you have), a schedule for the family, a schedule for your kids activities and if you're a WAHM, you have a schedule for your business too. Wooh! I'm tired already.

During the past few weeks couple of months I have been majorly stressed. It got so bad that I decided I needed to make an appointment with my Doc and when I did, I asked for the "Chill Pill". "Does that exist," I asked. Unfortuantely for me and probably my family, it does not exist.

When we got down to it, we decided that I needed to treat my lack of good sleep and see how things went from there. To be completely honest, she also recommended something else but the word Spa Day wasn't a part of it so I decided to reject that option, at least for now anyway.

HELLO Ambien! I've been taking it for only 3 days now but I feel great! I can definitely tell the difference in my mood and my attitude towards life and the daily tasks that often bore me.

If you take Ambien or are thinking about starting, listen to your Doc when they say, "take it right before you go to bed. Don't try to do anything while you're under the Ambien influence." LOL!

Funny Story....

Night 2 on Ambien.

I took my pill and laid down to watch tv for a bit before going to sleep. About 20 minutes in, the hubs and I get into a disagreement regarding golf (grrrr! if I knew how to make a "hacking up a loogey and spitting" sound with words, it would be in these parenthesise instead of grrrr). I turned on my side with my back facing him while he continued to...complain about God knows what. At this point, I was no longer listening. The occasional, "Yup!" and "Nope!" came out of my mouth but that was just to appease him and hopefully stear him towards shutting up sooner rather then later. (Love you Honey!)

I started thinking, "Why am I not asleep yet? I know that small, stupid pill made it down my throat, didn't it? There's no way the "normal" Sarah would let him rant and rave the way he is now with only a "Yup!" and "Nope!" in return. Damn Ambien, what is the problem? Wait a minute, maybe I didn't really swallow the pill. Maybe it fell into the water bottle as I was taking a sip. Damnit!" I laid there for a few minutes running the moment I took the pill through my head over and over again. "I swear I swallowed the stupid thing."

Unable to sleep until I knew for a fact that my Ambien wasn't dissolving away at the bottom of my water bottle, I snatched it off the night stand and headed towards the kitchen. I flipped the light switch on, unscrewed the cap to my water bottle, closed one eye and looked down into the bottle with the other eye. Nothin'! At this point, the side of my brain that was still functioning properly, knew, that I was on Ambien. But still, I held the bottle up to the light, looking for any cloudy substance in the water. Again, nothing! So, I went back to bed and was out quicker then you can say, "You idiot!"

I woke up refreshed and happy to face another day as a Mother, a Wife, a Business Owner, an Interrogator, a Bug Wrangler and a Taxi Driver (to name a few).

To the Mom's out there, there's no tougher job. So when someone says, "Don't worry, be happy", you smile and politely tell them, to back off!

Same Great Product - Different Name

Our No-Throw Sippy Cup Holders will now be known as Toss-Me-Not Sippy Cup Holders.

Why, do you ask? Because my fabulous attorney emailed me today to let me know that someone (rolling eye's) has beaten me to the punch and has trademarked the wording "No Throw". Dang!!! Ok, ok...so she registered it almost 5 years ago but still, it really worked. I see why she did what she did.

Nothing is written in stone yet with the "Toss-Me-Not" name so if anyone has any better idea's, I'm all ears. My web designer may not like me changing it again as she has to go in and edit some photo's and un-do any work that may have been done to my bag toppers but I'm willing to risk it. She's awesome!

But like I said...same FANTABULOUS product, different name!

The effects of Private School

"D'' is 6 years old and has attended private school for 2 years now. He's in the first grade and this little story happened today.

"D" comes out of his room with a blanket wrapped around his shoulders like Batman. He jumps on the couch and then off the couch on to the floor. At this point I'm trying not to yell out to him "STOP jumping on and OFF of the furniture!!!" :-) After landing on the floor he wraps himself up completely in his blanket and says, "Mom, look! I'm a larva." Not, "Mom, look! I'm a burrito" or "Mom, look! I'm a taco" but I'm a larva. LOL!

Also today, "Mom, how old is Jesus?" "Oh no, I thought. I have no freakin' idea." So what did I say? "Ask your daddy, son.

Wordless Wednesday

Our bed on a Sunday morning. Notice the cotton hanging out of the dog's mouth from his chew toy that is NOT ALLOWED on the bed. Bad dog!

Favorite Motherhood Moment

Mothers Day 2008 - Giveaway Event

In honor of Mother's Day approaching (and the giveaway happening over at 5 Minutes for Mom), I thought I would share my favorite motherhood moment with my readers.

When I was pregnant, we took "D" to the ultrasound appointment that would tell us if we were having a boy or a girl. When the tech was sure of what she was seeing, she said "It's a girl!" My 5 year old son's reaction..."OH NO!!! I don't want a sister, I want a brother!!" I was overjoyed and so was my husband but "D" was far from happy.

That's what makes photo's like the one's below so special. Once she was born, his immediate love for her overpowered any sour feelings about girl cooties, pink pony's and barbie dolls. He adores his sister and wants more then anything to be the one to teach her all the things that really matter in life, or what he has learned so far. He's a great big brother and an even better son.
