Recipe for Destruction...or Playdough

Thank you to the wonderful woman over at Baby House for letting me share this recipe with my readers.

It's the World's Best and Easiest Playdough Recipe.
Make some and give it to your sister/brother to pay them back for that 100-piece paint set they bought your child for Christmas. Or, you and you little one(s) can just have a playdough party on the kitchen floor. That's what we did! This recipe really is simple and fun, and it's a great way to teach your children measurements.

Cooked Playdough

You will need:

2 cups of plain flour
1 cup salt
2 tablespoons of oil (it didn't say what type so I used vegetable)
4 tablespoons of cream of tartar
2 cups of water
Food colouring
Saucepan
Wooden spoon

What to do:

Mix dry ingredients in the saucepan. Mix in oil, water and food colouring. Cook for 2-5 minutes over medium heat, stirring constantly. The playdough is ready when it leaves the sides of the pan.

This playdough will keep in an air tight container for a couple of months, dependent on your climate. Keep it in the fridge if you are in a hot climate.

Enjoy!

So much stress over these...

Who would have thought that the day would come that I would be tearing apart my living room trying to find the cap to my water bottle. Not because I so desperately needed that cap to my water bottle but because I have a very curious 8 month old daughter who manages to find any and every little thing that may be on the floor or 2-3ft above it.

My poor husband, my first question was "What did you do with the cap to my water bottle?" in an accusatory manor of course (love you honey). "Nothing", he replied. "Damnit, I said. Then where the hell is it?" As I am asking myself this I am tipping the couch up along with the end tables, the love seat, the chair and of course the ottoman. It is no where to be found. "How can that be? It was right here on the table and now it's gone".

During my tirade I had also thrown a blanket that we had sitting on the chair into the dining room so I could better search the furniture. Where do you think that bottle cap was??? Yup, it was stuck to the stupid blanket. You know the little ridges that are on a bottle cap. Well, that cap hung on for dear life as I was throwing that blanket around and I finally found it when I gave up and swore to keep an eye on my daughter every second until I found it. I layed the blanket over my lap and like it was sent down from heaven, the bottle cap was staring up at me. I could've sworn it had a white glow around it.

My stresses were over. Thanks a lot for the hike in my blood pressure you annoying little cap that goes on to another little annoying thing that now has become my third child.

Adventure's in Dieting - Day 7

Thank you to the wonderful ladies who have already shared some great tips.

I agree with Barbara 100% when it comes to portion control. It's funny because lately my hubby has been on this "We as American's eat too much" kick. This coming from the man who eats snickers and drinks a soda for lunch. LOSER! Just kidding babe, I love you.

An idea I had regarding portion control and eating out is...when the waiter/waitress brings you your plate, immediately ask for a To-Go box or Doggy Bag and put half of your meal in the box. I could sit there and clear my plate x2 if I really wanted to with no problems but do I really need it? Nope.

According to some smart scientist out there, it takes 10-15 minutes (after you stop eating) to feel full. So take a breather and see maybe if your tummy is done but your mouth just wasn't ready to quit.

Maybe I should first explain what kind of dieting I am doing before I start throwing tips out there. I am eating healthy and eating smaller portions and that is it! Soon I will add in exercise and maybe even Jazzercise (Melissa) ;-) but for right now, the food is what matter's most.

I drink water ALL day. And when I have a craving for a soda, I drink a Coke Zero. But no more then one a day. I have ran out of Coke Zero so I have been drinking only water for the past 4 days. Did I mention that I hate water? And when I go out to eat, I WILL have my glass of sweet tea.

This morning my husband said to me, "Do you really need to cheat on a meal today?" Is he insane??? Yes, I do, and here's why. I can not, realistically, live everyday of my life not ever eating a cheat meal again. Because dieting is a way of life, I have to find a way for it to work for me...forever.

Lisa's idea about satisfying her sweet tooth every evening with a piece of Dark Chocolate is awesome. Too bad I don't like dark chocolate but for those of you out there who do, it is now considered a POWER food so melt away every evening with 1 piece. Yes, just one. Sorry.

And to help out with those before dinner crashes, try eating a healthy snack between lunch and dinner. I usually eat a fruit like a banana or a 100 Calorie Pack or something.

Happy Dieting....yeah right!

Day 6 and counting...

I need to start off by saying that I am talking about dieting. Enough said, right? I can't guarantee that my language will stay "G" rated given the frustrating subject that we are embarking upon...so little one's, it's Daddy time, run along.

Are they gone? Good, Gosh Doggit I HATE dieting.

Here's the skinny on my fat. I was a nice 145lbs. (I'm 5'9'') when I got pregnant with my now 6 year old son. At the peak of my pregnancy with him I was 206lbs. I'll do the math for ya, I gained a whopping 61lbs. give or take a cheeseburger or two. After having him in 2001, I sat at 180lbs. until Summer of 2006 where I got down to 165lbs.

I was torturing myself by eating better and don't kid yourself people, it is torture. All the books and everyone who's on a diet (those who are still savoring the taste of their last slice of pizza 5 days earlier) say's "dieting shouldn't be about starving yourself." HELLO!!! You're starving your body of all those things it love's and want's and so desperately thinks it deserves. Like the burgers, the fries, the pizza, the ice cream and best of all, the CARBS!!!!

So anyway, I quickly gained that weight back when I got pregnant in 2005 but unfortunately we lost that little one. The angels in heaven needed him/her more then we did. When I got prego in 2006 with our little J.Bean I was thrilled to have a new little bundle on the way. I was also thrilled at the thought of no longer having to suck in my stomach. FREEDOM!

So with Bean I got up to 209lbs. I gained about 34lbs. total with her. (I know you didn't bargain for a math lesson during this post but bare with me.) Thank goodness it wasn't anywhere close to the 61lbs. I gained with my son but I was still up there and when she came out, it was on. Balls to the walls or better yet, tits to the floor, I'm gonna lose this weight. For about a month or so that's how it went...and then I gave up, again.

So, I am on the damn dieting wagon again. I am determined this time to get down to my goal weight of 155lbs. by my birthday in August. Not much time, I know. But I work better when I have a date and amount to aim for. And yes, it is true, I want to be a MILF. Although the Hubby already say's I am and the few looks a day that I get prove that to be true (atleast to me), I want to be a hot MILF in short shorts. You see, the last time I actually wore shorts out in public (besides right after my pregnancy with Bean when I was jogging through the woods with hubby) was when I was in high school. Actually, to be more exact, it was when I was 19, right before I got prego with the 6-er.

I want my legs back damnit! I am 25 years old and I am sick of wearing capri's during the torturous months of Summer.

So here's the plan...It's all about the food with me. I can walk and work-out and all that hoop-la but if I can't get my life right with the way I eat, I will never be 155lbs.

The last time I weighed myself (last week) I was at 182lbs. so I have less then 30lbs. to lose.

Today, is day 6 of my healthy eating kick. Tomorrow, I will allow myself one cheat meal and will continue to do so every 7th day of my weight loss trek. The hubby is very supportive (no shit, what husband wouldn't be?) and was there for me today when I texted him around lunch time to tell him I was feeling weak. I needed something. Anything. Just something bad...because we all know, the bad, is so damn good.

I have decided to share my "Adventure's in Dieting" with all of you. Aren't you lucky.

First order of business, I have to buy a scale. Wal-Hell here I come!

Second, share your dieting tips. What works for you and what doesn't.

Is it Personal or is it Business???

It's Both (the blog).

I'm sure some of my clients get more then what they bargained for when they visit my blog from my website. But I like to talk (or in this case, write) and express myself, even though I don't think very many people are listening. :-) And of course, sometimes I must vent.

So, I just wanted to clarify, that this blog will not always be full of new and exciting things coming into my store and it won't always be full of me ranting and raving about who know's what.

I say what's on my mind and I truly hope that all my reader's enjoy my blog and can get a little chuckle out of it here and there.

Go Away Germs!!! GO AWAY!!!

I HATE being sick! It's going on 3 weeks now and hopefully I am at the end of the road.

I've been to the doc twice this week. The first time, the doc said I had allergies. "Really? Well ok, load me up with allergie meds then please." WRONG! The following day I get a fever and barf in the middle of the night. Yum...Daddy's spaghetti all over the sink. TMI (too much info), I know.

So I go back this morning, and what do I have? A whole hell of a lot of congestion. No shit! I've only been saying for the past week that this sumo wrestler who's been hanging out on my chest is about to be evicted.

So now, I am on 4 meds and yes, I made sure it was safe for them to all be taken at once. I'm hoping they start working immediately.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love food. :-) And there is a crawfish boil this weekend and although I don't like eating crawfish out of the shell, I do love crawfish and I wanna go! (pouting) I think they're in a shell or the body??? Anyway, crawfish lovers know what I am talking about.

For your viewing pleasure, this is how I currently feel...

Happy Valentine's Day

Today is the day to show your love to that special person in your life. However, in this family, we don't follow those rules (or atleast the hubby doesn't). You see, my hubby has been protesting V-Day ever since we got married. He thinks it is a Holiday that is completely geared towards woman and the men don't get doodly-squat!

I have to say, that I partially agree with him. Now, do I agree with not getting anything on V-Day? Hell no! But I have no problem with receiving it on the 13th of Feb. :-)

You see, the way he solves his issue with V-Day is he gives me a present on February 13th. So technically, he isn't celebrating Valentine's Day. He's a nut, I know.

I have always given my husband something for Valentine's Day so he is able to enjoy it as well. But for some reason, he still has a issue with it.

So I already got my present and it is a new phone...check it out!

Pretty spiffy huh! I have been spoiled with my Treo that is a touch screen that I have had for close to 4 years so I was due for a new phone. And of course, you gotta upgrade. :-)

Thanks to my wonderful hubby, Sean, for getting me such a cool gift. He doesn't know what he's getting yet so I can't say.

To the man I love, I look forward to NOT celebrating Valentine's Day with you for many, many more years to come.

No Luck

No luck on getting that prescription. I didn't think I would be able to anyway, but it was worth a shot.

Good News: Dorian is in good health and still has 20/20 vision. He's lucky, I was wearing glasses by the time I was his age.

Bad News: I am on hold to schedule an appt for myself. It is 7:20am and I am call number 24. :-/

Break Time is Over

It was fun but I am happy to get back into the swing of things.

Jordan has been sick and is slowly getting better. I was sick and got better and then I was sick again, and then, feeling better again. And now, I am worse. :-(

Bronchitis seems to form in my body over night and I get it often. I've had it so many times that when I call the Doc, I am telling them what I have and they are just confirming it when I get there. Give me a prescription pad and some tutorials on chicken scratch as my signature and BOOM!!! I'm a doctor. I'd be one bitchin' doctor too.

The Z Pack is my medication relief from this illness. Unfortunetly, it is NOT over the counter. Dorian has a doctor's appt. today for a physical (for Soccer) and I'm gonna see if I can shmooze the doctor into giving me a prescription without actually having an appt. :-)

For the military wives out there, you know that getting an appointment on post is a pain. And actually getting that appointment with the doctor of your choice takes even longer.

Anywho, I am back. Not 100% but I am here, drinking my Day Quil and sipping on some hot tea.

I have MANY new fabrics that I am picking up tomorrow and I am so excited to get them up for all to see. There are around 20 new choices and here's a little preview of what's to come...
